If you asked Scott Somma who he is, he’d first tell you he’s the son of Rande and Georgia Somma, the proud husband of Courtney Somma, and the devoted father of Jameson and Luka. Professionally, Scott is a Principal of Solyco Wealth & Insurance and leads the firm’s insurance division, where he helps individuals, families, and businesses navigate protection planning and insurance solutions as part of their broader financial picture.
Raised in Rochester Hills, MI, Scott spent 27 years in the area before attending Central Michigan University and beginning his finance career at Quicken Loans/Rock Financial as a mortgage loan officer. He was soon recruited by a local brokerage and became part owner of a mortgage brokerage firm until 2009. While on vacation in Pittsburgh, an impromptu interview with Citizens Bank led to an unexpected opportunity: a management position at the regional bank. Although moving to Pittsburgh wasn’t the original plan, Scott embraced the change and began building a new professional network there.
He started by managing local branches and was later tapped by the Investment division, which recognized his commitment and rapport with clients. Scott accepted a role working with the bank’s high-net-worth customers as a Client Relationship Manager. After eight years of serving clients at the bank, he felt he could better prepare their financial futures outside the constraints of a banking environment. In 2017, Scott and two partners took a leap of faith and launched their own firm.
Today Scott is a Principal at Solyco Wealth and Insurance, affiliate of Solyco Capital. He’s driven by the ability to help clients across a range of needs and values the resources the firm offers. Grateful for the support of family, friends, and clients, Scott begins each day reminded by his family that they are his primary motivation to build a successful firm grounded in integrity and the core values he grew up with.
